Gary Bey was 49, working 60-hour weeks at a corporate job. Four months after enrolling in Cellular Repair School, he and his wife went full-time running a repair business from home. This is his unscripted story — including the actual numbers.
Gary Bey’s Story: From 60-Hour Weeks to Full-Time From Home in Four Months
Gary wasn’t looking for a phone repair business. His 19-year-old son found the opportunity first — a $60 tool kit, a Facebook page his wife made in 15 minutes, and immediate demand from neighbors with cracked screens. His son walked away when things got hard. Gary saw a gold mine.
He and his wife Deanne enrolled together. Total investment: under $3,000 — certification training plus proper equipment, borrowed from his parents. They paid that loan back within the first month.
For four months Gary juggled a 60-hour corporate job with the new business, coming home exhausted and working nights. Then the math became obvious. He walked away from the job.
Today Gary works roughly 30 hours a week from home. He’s the sole provider for his family. He makes his own schedule, attends his kids’ soccer games, and has the energy to be present when it matters.
He was 49 when he started.
“There’s no better boss than working for yourself.”
